Our History

In May of 1991, Steve Fromm, a businessman and parent of two children in elementary school, first shared his vision of creating an educational foundation for Arlington Heights School District 25.

At the time, District 25 residents had just approved an increase in the District’s education fund through a closely passed referendum. Passage of the referendum had involved hundreds of volunteers spending countless hours informing the public of the needs of our schools.

Steve saw in that effort the strong enthusiasm and support that families and community members had for local schools. He believed the community would be willing to become involved in additional ways to support education while also helping reduce pressure on local taxpayers.

His vision was for parents, businesses, and the community to partner with District 25 through an educational foundation that could fund enhancements and opportunities that otherwise may not have been affordable through traditional school funding alone.

After researching educational foundations in other communities and partnering with several District 25 families, the ABC/25 Foundation — A Better Community Through Excellence in Education/District 25 — was officially established in the fall of 1991.
